The last 12 years of hours of practice and competition have led to this moment for Scottsburg High School senior Autumn Tutterrow. She signed a letter of intent to be a member of the Marian University women’s bowling team.

“Bowling is something I’ve always enjoyed,” Tutterrow said.

At the age of 6, Tutterrow said she started bowling with her grandparents.

“Both my grandparents have been bowling for like forever. They are the ones who go me into it,” Tutterrow said.

From her initial days of bowling with her grandparents, Tutterrow moved onto junior leagues and competing on Saturday mornings and at the state tournament every year. By the time she was an eighth-grade student, Tutterrow made the bowling team at school and continued to play throughout her high school career.

“I went to semi-state this year,” Tutterrow said. “I made it sectionals my freshman year. This year, I competed in sectionals, regionals, and semi-state.”

It was one of her SHS bowling teammates who contacted Marian University to tell them about the talent Tutterrow had and how they should look at her for their women’s team.

“I went to a practice at Marian after that,” Tutterrow said. “The campus wasn’t too big, but it wasn’t too small. Indianapolis is a big city with lots to do.”

After meeting with Tutterrow, Marian University, a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics college, offered her an athletic and academic scholarship. She signed her letter of intent in May. She is one of six SHS seniors to sign to participate in athletics in college next fall.

At Marian University, Tutterrow will major in nursing.

“I’ve always wanted to work in the medical field. I like helping people,” Tutterrow said.

At Scott County School District 2, Tutterrow’s story is our story. Your story matters. You matter.
