Opportunities at District 2

Scott County School District 2 provides a full continuum of special education services for our students. Our special education programs are designed to meet the needs of every individual and includes specifically designed instruction and related services to support a student’s educational program. The services range from students placed within the general education classroom to self-contained specialized programs for students whose educational needs require more intensive services and support in order to meet the needs of each individual student.

SCSD2 offers preschool services for students 3 until age-eligible for kindergarten that qualify for Special Education services  The student’s developmental, educational, and behavioral needs are considered by the case conference committee when determining eligibility and placement for the student.

For those students who are age-eligible for kindergarten through the age of 21, SCSD2 offers a variety of placement options that includes:

  • Special Education inclusion support provided within the general education setting

  • General Education placement with supported services or assistance that are provided outside of the general education classroom (resource room)

  • Separate classrooms that provide instruction in functional academics, life skills and basic skills, or address behavioral challenges (this placement may or may not be in addition to the student’s participation in one or more general education setting or class)
